The Veterinary Neurological Center in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking an excellent Neurologist/Neurosurgeon to join our skilled and experienced neurological team. Core responsibilities include clinical neurology, neurosurgery, neurology resident training, and continuing education presentations to the local veterinary community.

Privately owned and operated, the VNC has been serving Arizona veterinarians for nearly 35 years and is the premier neurology referral practice in the state. The practice is housed in a 6800 sq. ft. stand-alone facility dedicated entirely to small animal neurology and neurosurgery. In-house diagnostic and surgical capabilities include in-house CSF analysis, electrodiagnostics, computed radiography, CT, and MR (GE 1.5T with GE’s most advanced gradient package), operating microscope, CUSA, and 3D printing for surgical planning and drill guides.

The Veterinary Neurological center is currently seeking an experienced Imaging Technician to work alongside our skilled and dedicated technical support team assisting our neurologists. Medical imaging is an essential component for the diagnosis and treatment, both medical and surgical, of our patients’ neurological disorders. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is skilled with MRI and/or CT and has a love for animals and a desire to be involved in the cutting edge of veterinary medical imaging and associated applications. This position is open to both Veterinary Imaging Technicians as well as MRI/CT Technicians and Technologists who are looking for opportunities outside of the human medical field. Previous veterinary experience and/or ARMRIT or AART certification are not required but are preferred.

Description:
This person will work directly with VNC Neurologists and the Hospital Director/Lead Imaging Technician to perform MRI/CT examinations of our patients, coordinate the flow of patients to and from MR/CT, and provide the highest quality care to our patients and clients. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and Position Animals with Care for MRI/CT imaging as patients are under general anesthesia.
  • Transport Anesthetized Patients from Radiology to our MR trailer or CT room while breathing for them with an ambu-bag.
  • Produce High Quality MRI / CT Images by following and verifying neurologists’ orders and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures utilizing our 8-channel, 1.5T GE HDXT MRI and GE Multi-Slice CT Scanners.
  • Work Closely with Anesthesia Technicians to ensure patient safety during MRI/CT procedures and to ensure any medical emergencies are quickly recognized and addressed.
  • Coordinate Efficient Flow of Patients To and From MRI / CT by maintaining excellent communication with the Technicians, Lead Imaging Technician, Neurologists, and Client Service Representatives.
  • Clean and Maintain MRI / CT Rooms and Equipment
  • Assist with Updating / Improving Imaging Protocols and Procedures with the Lead Imaging Technician to ensure the images produced are of the highest quality.
  • Assist with 3D Printing of Anatomical Models by working with the 3D Printing Technician and Neurologists to obtain images necessary to create 3D models.
  • Enter Imaging Services in Patient Medical Record so that services are properly documented and invoiced using ezyVet practice management software.
While the primary focus of this position is MRI and CT imaging of patients, the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities and assist the Technicians with patients in our Treatment Area will be available to those with previous veterinary experience and those who wish to learn. The Veterinary Neurological Center is currently seeking an experienced Veterinary Neurology Anesthetist to work alongside our skilled and dedicated technical support team assisting our neurologists. Being able to safely induce, maintain, and recover our patients from anesthesia is essential as general anesthesia is required not only for surgery but for diagnostic imaging as well. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is experienced with anesthesia, has a love for animals, and has the desire to be involved in ensuring that the VNC’s anesthetic procedures are as safe as possible for each special patient. This position is open to both veterinary technicians with anesthetic experience as well as nurse anesthetists who are looking for opportunities outside of the human medical field. A minimum of 5 years of anesthesia experience is required. Previous veterinary experience, and VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) certification (or in the process of getting certified), or CRNA certifications are not required but are preferred.

Description:

This person will work closely with our neurologists and technicians to ensure that anesthesia is performed safely and that our patients receive the best possible anesthetic care. This will include working with doctors to ensure the best possible practices, training technicians on these practices, and monitoring patients under anesthesia. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Patient Induction, Monitoring, and Recovery of patients who undergo general anesthesia for diagnostic imaging and surgery.
  • Administer Medications per the doctor’s orders during anesthetic procedures.
  • Record and Chart patient vitals, anesthetic gas levels, medications administered, length of anesthesia, etc. during anesthetic procedures.
  • Attend Doctor Meetings and Case Discussions to evaluate prior anesthetic episodes to improve procedures and identify and correct any issues that arise.
  • Assist with Updating / Improving Anesthetic Protocols and Procedures with the neurologists to ensure the best possible practices.
  • Provide Anesthesia Support Where Needed Most by being able to switch between cases when required as long as it is safe to do so and anesthesia responsibilities are appropriately delegated.
  • Train Technicians on the principles and practices to provide safe, excellent care to our patients while under anesthesia.
  • Develop In-House Continuing Education to help improve the team’s understanding of anesthesia as well as their anesthesia skills.

While the primary focus of this position is anesthesia, this individual will need to be willing to take on additional responsibilities so that they can assist the Technicians with patients in our Treatment Area when necessary. Those without previous veterinary experience, or experience in these areas of veterinary medicine, who are willing to learn will be trained for these responsibilities. Description:

Provide care for clients and patients over the phone and in person by communicating to doctors how their needs can best be met. The CSR position at the Veterinary Neurological Center is technically challenging and a vital part of the communications within our hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build upon General Practice skills who have interest to further grown and develop in a Specialty Practice, or individuals looking for a new career opportunity in the veterinary field. As we are open Monday through Saturday, it is expected that CSRs will work every other Saturday.

The Veterinary Neurological Center is currently seeking a Part-Time CSR Assistant to work alongside our fantastic front office team. This is a unique opportunity for a hard-working individual interested in developing administrative skills in the veterinary field and ideal for students who need a flexible work schedule to complement their studies.
 
The VNC is committed to hiring professional, positive, and passionate individuals to contribute to an enjoyable environment by working together and providing extraordinary care to each patient, client, and the veterinarians who refer them to us.
 
Schedule:
  • Days: Coverage is needed Monday through Saturday. Any of these days are currently open.
  • Hours: Either 8:30am – 5pm or 8:30am – 6pm
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Connect with Clients in person and by phone
  • Retrieve and File Charts accurately and swiftly
  • Pull Records for the next day’s appointments
  • Clean and Stock Supplies to maintain an organized and comfortable environment for patients, clients, and staff
  • E-Fax Medical Records
  • Digitize Medical Records
Essential Qualities:
  • Interpersonal Skills to work well with others and communicate effectively with clients, doctors, and fellow colleagues
  • Basic Computer Skills and knowledge (e.g. Microsoft Office, email software)
  • Proficient Typist able to accurately input 40+ words per minute
  • Meticulous Detail in all aspects of each task
  • Love and Compassion for Animals and those people who care for them
  • Desire to Learn and Grow and contribute with your colleagues.
Additional Qualities:
  • Advanced Multi-Tasking Skills to prioritize and accomplish deadlines
  • Strong Listening Aptitude to follow proper procedures and discuss areas of improvement
